AAA, Travel, and Apps

Are you a member of AAA?  You can get a lot more out of your membership than just roadside assistance!

Log in at AAA.com/ebooks and download FREE digital editions of the AA TourBook  Guides.   Formats are available for Kindle, Nook, iPad/iPhone, and all smart phones equipped with an e-reader app.   Several cities are available now, including Las Vegas, Los Angeles, San Diego, Orlando and Honolulu. More are due to be added later this year.

If you are planning a trip, stop by your local AAA office and get FREE maps, TourBook Guides and Discount books.  Also check out their TripTik travel planner online. I recently used it to map my summer road trip. It’s FREE and includes maps, driving directions, distances, hotels, attractions, and more!

At  AAA.com/discounts you can find member discounts on shopping, dining,  entertainment, and services. Make the most of your AAA membership.  It’s good for more than dead battery rescues!

Go here to learn about AAA mobile apps. There are three apps available for iPhones: discounts, Roadside Assistance and TripTik. Only a Discounts app is available for Androids.  All the apps are FREE!

Speaking of apps, I found this article on the AAA website.  Some of the apps are FREE and some are cheap. Some of these look like they’d be handy on our road trip. I did a little browsing of them and ended up downloading a few. The Cheap Gas app, however, did not get good reviews.  I instead downloaded GasBuddy for FREE at the recommendation here.

Since we are on the subject of travel, I just wanted to remind you about Groupon and Living Social.(btw, there are FREE apps for these services, too!) I use these deal sites often to save money on services, entertainment and recreation. Did you know you can sign up to receive daily emails from other cities, too? Since I am doing a fair amount of traveling this year, I have signed up for some of the cities I will be visiting. Hopefully, a dining or attraction deal will show up that I can use to save money on my vacation. When my trip is over, I’ll just go to my account page and remove the email alerts for those cities.
